Advertising and editorial policy

CampGear is operated by Fat Camel Ltd, trading as CampGear.

CampGear currently has no active advertising or affiliate partnerships. We have deferred these until the publication has established readership. This policy sets out the standards we will follow if we introduce them.

Why CampGear may earn money

CampGear aims to help people enjoy the UK outdoors, from family campsites to trips with everything on your back. Running the publication costs money. Advertising, affiliate commissions and clearly identified commercial partnerships may help pay for hosting, development and the work behind our articles.

Affiliate links

Some articles may include links that earn CampGear a commission when a reader makes a qualifying purchase. We will identify the relevant links and content as advertising before readers encounter them. If an entire article is affiliate advertising, we will make that clear in the article and its promotional listings. A disclosure in this policy alone does not replace those labels.

We choose products for their relevance to the reader and the trip, rather than the availability or size of a commission. We may include products that do not earn us anything. An affiliate arrangement does not guarantee a product a place in a guide or a positive assessment.

Retailers set their own prices, stock, delivery and returns terms. Check those details on the retailer’s website before buying. We will avoid presenting unverified prices as current offers.

Display advertising and sponsorship

Display advertisements will be clearly labelled and kept separate from article navigation and buying advice. A third-party advertisement is not an endorsement by Jay, Keith or CampGear.

Paid features, sponsorships, supplied products and other relevant commercial relationships will be disclosed clearly. A sponsor cannot buy a favourable independent review or suppress a material limitation of a product. Any agreement must preserve that principle.

What our recommendations are based on

We distinguish first-hand experience from research based on manufacturer specifications, published tests and other sources. We will not describe a product as tested by CampGear unless we have actually tested it. Where an item was supplied, loaned or discounted in connection with coverage, we will explain that relationship.

Camping equipment involves trade-offs. We aim to explain who an item may suit, its limitations and relevant alternatives. Paid relationships will not determine our conclusions.

Corrections and commercial enquiries

Tell us about errors, outdated links or unclear disclosures at enquiries@campgear.uk. Please include the article link and enough detail for us to investigate. Commercial enquiries can use the same address; they do not guarantee editorial coverage.

Privacy and choice

Before advertising or other consent-requiring technologies are activated, we will explain the relevant processing and provide suitable consent controls. Rejecting optional tracking will not prevent access to CampGear’s articles. The privacy and cookie notices will describe the services actually in use.
